For many years, I've been coming to Bandon, a town on the central Oregon Coast, about four-plus hours from Portland, for the annual Circles in the Sand beach labyrinth event. To me, that's world-class and spectacular. But I've always known that for other people, a different world-class (and world-famous) attraction is the Bandon Dunes golf resort. I know several serious golfers who say it is one of the very best anywhere. I'm not a golfer but I believe them.
What I didn't know until this year was that the resort includes a terrific labyrinth. It's an 11-circuit Chartres design set in a beautiful forest grove. It's a peaceful spot, just steps from cabins, the lodge and the golf course, but it felt far removed from all of that.
