Los Angeles, CA - Keeping it downtown

Downtown Los Angeles is a concrete jungle in places - tall buildings, wide and busy streets, imposing structures. I had heard that there was a labyrinth to be found at the First United Methodist Church right downtown, just a block from LA Live, the city’s newish entertainment complex of sports and performing arts facilities, hotels, restaurants and shopping, kind of the Times Square equivalent for LA, I suppose. The first time I walked to the location of the church, not only was a labyrinth not visible but neither was a church. Instead, a couple of apartment buildings were located at the address. But upon some Internet research, it was clear that the church existed so I headed there early on a Sunday morning, The church makes use of shipping containers in a downtown parking lot and sets up outdoor outreach from there, right in the lot. And also in the lot across from the containers and a table with free coffee was a painted labyrinth design. It was a smaller pattern and somewhat faded, but easy enough to walk, literally in the shadows of the city’s skyscrapers.
