The labyrinth I found on the west campus of Loyola Marymount University in Los Angeles is in a space called the Garden of Slow Time. There are benches and Adirondack chairs for reflection, most facing out from the bluff overlooking the city. And there are many inscriptions and notations around the area about slowing down and taking your time. According to the school, the labyrinth itself was designed by an LMU professor and was built in 2016. Parking is free on the weekends at the campus garage near the bluff, so I grabbed a drink from a campus coffee shop, walked the labyrinth a few times, and then sat down in a bench and did absolutely nothing for a long while. As one bench read, “Know Time Like The Present.”
