Interestingly, and unfortunately, my visit to this outdoor labyrinth happened on one of the coldest days ever in the history of Southern New England. At the time of my midday walk, the temperature was 1 degree with a wind chill of minus-15. I'm not sure what I was thinking but it was a labyrinth that I was eager to see.
Grace Episcopal Church is one of the grand churches in downtown Providence. It's not very old by local standards, only dating back to 1846 but its Tiffany stained glass windows, large organ and stately presence make it a local landmark and have earned it a place on the National Register of Historic Places. A few years ago in 2017, the church built an adjacent event space annex called The Pavilion at Grace, and someone was smart enough to think to install a compact but elegant square-shaped patter in the stone tile.
