The Franciscan Renewal Center in Scottsdale was founded nearly 75 years ago as a Catholic retreat in the desert. It remains an active place for wellness, healing and recovery. When I visited recently, I found the stone labyrinth below, just behind a meditation chapel. To reach the path, I walked around a collection of statues representing the Stations of the Cross. It was a peaceful place and even though the parking lot was crowded, I had the labyrinth, blessedly, to myself for my brief stay there.
